Based in Oamaru, Callan oversees the Civil Division across the Waitaki District and has been involved in projects throughout the lower South Island.
He manages civil projects, specialised plant, and minor works teams, supporting client relationships and helping deliver high-quality construction outcomes.
Callan grew up in Dunedin, spending winters in the hills around Wanaka with his ski-fanatic parents. After realizing snowboard instructing wasn’t a long-term career, he pursued his passion for building by completing a Diploma in Civil Engineering at Otago Polytechnic.
While studying, he met his now-wife, an Oamaru local, and a visit to WCL’s head office over the holidays led to a graduate engineer role — kickstarting his civil construction career.
From site engineering to project management, Callan has grown into his current leadership role. What Callan enjoys most about WCL is the people — both within the team and across the wider civil construction industry. He takes pride in helping the team grow their skills and careers, and finds it rewarding to contribute to resilient infrastructure that supports his community and country.
Outside of work, Callan enjoys a wide variety of music, but as a day-one Swiftie, he’ll always have a soft spot for Taylor Swift.
