In 2026 Whitestone Contracting Ltd played a key role in the delivery of the Kakanui Bridge Replacement Project, replacing an ageing bridge within the Kakanui township south of Oamaru. The project restored a vital connection for residents, businesses and emergency services, while improving safety and long-term resilience of the route.
Working as the lead civil subcontractor to Concrete Structures, our focus was on delivering the enabling works required to support construction of the new bridge, while keeping the community connected throughout the build – followed by relocation of the services onto the new bridge, construction of the approaches and tying-in the new road to the existing.

The result is safer, more resilient infrastructure that reflects the pride we take in our work and the difference we strive to make for the Waitaki District and beyond.
