Who We Are
Whitestone Contracting Limited (WCL) carries out a wide range of contracting and trading activities that support local communities and businesses across Waitaki, Central Otago and the Dunedin regions.
WCL is owned by the Waitaki District Council and exists to make a positive lasting difference in our communities.
Our goal is to run a successful, sustainable business that manages local assets in a way that benefits people, the environment, and the local economy.
What We Deliver
Our services include road maintenance and construction, water and drainage works, landscaping, mechanical workshop services, quarry and landfill operations, and equipment hire. We also work with private clients on a variety of construction and maintenance projects.

- We are committed to work together to ensure safe and sustainable working conditions for our employees.
- An employee assistance programme is in place to support our employees.
- We have an employee wellness programme that encourages physical and mental wellbeing.

We are committed to supporting our community and take pride in partnering with a diverse
range of community trusts and organisations.
WCL has supported a long list of local organisations, with sponsorships for everything from North Otago Rugby Football Union to the Oamaru Opera House to the Waitaki Student Support Trust. We distributed $83,000 in sponsorships within the Waitaki region in 2023-24.
