‘Formed by the people for the people’
In 1991 the Waitaki District Council saw the need to form an organisation to help meet the community’s roading and infrastructure requirements. To do this they started a 100% council owned resource that became Whitestone Contracting Ltd.
Over time WCL has expanded to meet the needs that have arisen and in the process has become a real success story for the community. A turnover of 3 million in the beginning has expanded to an increase of nearly 700% today.
‘Keeping focused on the community’
When you drive through the Waitaki and surrounding Districts there are many areas WCL are proud to be involved in. Whether it is work carried out at the Oamaru Public Gardens, building roads & managing roadside plantings, waste management, extensive landscaping, and much more we are happy to help keep the local towns and countryside’s looking clean, green and professional.
One of the most positive aspects for the communities are the 160+ dedicated staff the company employs who have been critical to the success Whitestone Contracting Ltd sees today.
The South Island community -our community includes a significant presence in Mackenzie and Waimate Districts.
Whitestone Contracting Stadium
In 2007 Centennial Park needed sponsorship to help keep up with rising maintenance and upgrades. WCL happily stepped up and are proud to sponsor the stadium and supporters of North Otago Rugby and North Otago sport groups.
Oamaru Opera House
The company is a proud sponsor of the Oamaru Opera House. There was an initial $100,000 contribution to the upgrade project and annual sponsorship to ensure the facility remains a significant asset to the community.
